What customers say?

“ Unbelievable is the only way I can describe this place!! The fish was perfect Fresh cut chips and the perfect chicken goujons so tender! 10/10 ”

“ Fantastic fish and chips. Probably the best in the area. Does great vegetarian and gluten free food. Would highly recommend the taco chip and the dish supper. ”

- Adam McCartney -

“ The Clarence has consistently sold the tastiest fish and chips in Ballyclare. I spoke with a delivery man for a local potato merchant, who claims to deliver the same type of spuds to all the nearby chip shops. Yet the difference in taste produced is incredible. However, The Clarence has always been first to increase the price of the menu and I remember saying I wouldn't buy a bag of chips if they went over £3.00 Then the owner priced his at £3.05.. Guess my response.. Now, you'd take the arm off a chip shop for a large chip for £3.00 ”

“ Best Chippy for miles. Practically a local institution. They do daily and lunch time specials which are great value. Great fish, brilliant pasties, really good southern fried chicken and the best chips in town. Never shy with the portions either! It's only a few minutes walk from the park too. Perfect spot to watch the Six Mile River run by while having lunch. ”

- Graeme Kerr -

“ The Clarence offers a good range of chippy food. Everything is freshly cooked. Batter nice and crispy. Good service. Good prices. I ordered a fish supper. Fish was lovely but unfortunately there were quite a few bad chips. ”

- Linda Davidson -

“ Chicken goujons are amazing, fish is usually tiny. Battered sausage makes up for it. Efficient ordering on the phone and collection. Visually clean. Best chippy in Ballyclare Iin my opinion. ”

- Al -

“ Best fish and chips in Ballyclare, it was a busy Friday night but the staff seemed more interested in chatting than getting the orders out. Call your order through and collect if you don't want to wait at least half an hour. ”

“ Go here every time I am in Ballyclare and it is always great and people working there are really lovely. One thing to note however is that they do seem to increase price quite often, it's quite the gamble every time one is at the till but then you'll probably find most chip shops are always doing that these days lol. However, it'll probably take a staggering price increase for me to stop going here because the food is just so good ”
